Frequently Asked Questions
What is Onset?

Onset is a community job board and talent network built specifically for the film, TV, commercial, and web production industry. Members find and post production jobs, build a profile, and connect with other crew and creative professionals, all in one place instead of a general job site.

How do I post a job on Onset?

Posting a job is free. Use the job posting form to add the role, location, dates, and rate, along with any details about the project, and your listing goes live on the jobs feed for members to find and apply to. Premium includes unlimited job posting.

How do I apply for jobs on Onset?

Anyone can browse the jobs feed and see the basic details of a listing. Applying to jobs requires a Premium membership. Once you are a Premium member, you can apply directly through Onset or use the contact method the poster lists.

How much does Onset cost, and is there a free trial?

Onset Premium is free for your first month, then $9.99 per month or $83.88 per year after. Both options include the same features: unlimited job posting, unlimited profile and job searching, and full access to the community feed. The free first month is available to members who have not tried Premium before.

Does Onset have remote production jobs?

Yes. Every job is marked with a location or listed as Remote, so you can find remote production work alongside on-set roles in specific cities. Use the jobs feed to focus on the listings that fit how you want to work.

Who is Onset for?

Onset is for the people who make production happen: crew and creative professionals looking for work (camera, editing, color, animation, directing, content creation, and more), and the producers, studios, agencies, and companies hiring them.

What kinds of roles and specialties are listed on Onset?

You will find production roles across specialties like camera operators, directors of photography, editors, colorists, animators, creative directors, and content creators, for film, television, commercial, and web projects. Both per-project and longer-term roles get posted.

Do I need an account to browse jobs?

No. Anyone can browse the jobs feed and see the basic details of a job without signing in. Applying to jobs, seeing profile details and viewing the community feed require a Premium membership.

How do I create a profile and get discovered?

Sign up and complete your profile with your specialty, experience, and past work, so hirers can find you when they search for talent. The more complete and specific your profile, the easier you are to discover.

What is the community feed?

The Community Feed is the shared forum where members post updates, opportunities, and conversations. The feed is a Premium feature and is not available on free accounts.

How do hirers search for and contact talent?

Hirers search member profiles by specialty and other details to find the right people, then reach out through Onset or contact information, found on the talent’s profile. Free accounts can view up to three profiles before being asked to upgrade. Premium removes that limit with unlimited profile searching.

What information is included in a job posting?

Each posting shows the role, the location (a city and state, or Remote), the start and end dates, the rate, and any extra details the poster adds, so you can see the key facts before you apply.

How do I cancel or change my Onset membership?

You can manage your membership from your account settings, including switching between monthly and yearly billing or canceling.

Is my profile public, or only visible to other members?

Member profiles live inside the Onset community and are not indexed by search engines. They are visible to other members rather than published on the open web.

Is Onset only for US-based jobs?

Onset is focused on the US production market today, with jobs listed by US city and state or as Remote.

How is Onset different from other production job sites?

Onset combines a production-specific job board with a talent community and profiles in one place, focused on film, TV, commercial, and web work. Rather than a general listings site, it connects crew and hirers directly, with a community feed and simple, flat Premium pricing.

What is the difference between a free account and Premium?

A free account lets you browse the jobs feed and see basic job details, and view up to three member profiles. Premium unlocks the rest: applying to jobs, unlimited profile searching, and full access to the community feed. Premium is free for the first month.
